Panic Room

POSTER

OVERVIEW

Panic Room” is one of the most thought-provoking tracks by Silent Planet. Based on a true story, the song deals with the topic of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from the perspective of an American soldier. It also touches on other forms of mental health issues including anxiety and depression.

I wanted to capture the eeriness and the dis-ease of mental illness from the perspective of someone on the outside looking in. My goal was to make the audience uncomfortable. I achieved this by utilizing the pupil as a mirror reflecting the visceral reaction of the viewer.

Social MediA

Playing off of the themes of the song, I wanted to leave the viewer thinking about a series of questions.

What do you do when you no longer feel safe in your environment? What do you do when your negative thoughts infiltrate the very place meant to keep you safe? What happens when it is no longer an outside threat but an internal one?

How do you protect yourself from yourself?
