In 2019, during my 5-hour train ride from Ottawa, I grew bored scrolling on my phone. So, I decided to grab my sketchbook. I’ve always been fascinated by space and the universe, which inspired me to create this book. The main character Creo, which means “create” in Latin, shows us the importance of introspection and empathy, and how the tools we acquire in overcoming difficult situations can be shared with others.
My goal with the series is to allow adults and children to reclaim quality time without the use of technology. I’ve been able to facilitate that by including engagement points throughout the book, which allow for deep conversations. I maintained the rough art style as a way to encourage readers to pick up a pencil and sketchbook.
