A Simple Gesture
I was wrapping up my workshops last fall and ended up having a conversation with a staff member about the importance of quality time without technology. She mentioned that my postcards stood out to her, which opened up a conversation about how we no longer write postcards and letters. She recently received a handwritten card from a co-worker. It was simply acknowledging something she did, nothing crazy, but the fact that this person took the time to write a note made it special, so much so that it was enough to bring her to tears. She mentioned that the gesture meant a lot to her, and made her feel seen and appreciated.
These days, the only time we get excited about mail is when an Amazon package arrives. I wanted to change that. The Penpal Kit is my way of further supporting my mission of creating space for people, young and old, to reclaim quality time without the use of technology.
I chose to stick with the white boxes as a canvas for my hand-drawn illustrations, since they had been such a big hit with parents and children.
What’s Inside?
Much like the idea behind the second edition of the Cadet Package, I wanted to keep the experience of receiving the package to feel like opening a gift. I also decided to stick to hand-drawn packaging, making every package unique. Here’s a look at what’s inside:
Premium Postcards
Premium Postcards featuring design s for both books in the series. Meant to create opportunities to build meaningful connections, both new and old. All while offering a chance to experience the value of slowing down.
Art Activities
Art activities that turn exchanging mail into an opportunity to share creativity and connection with friends.
